How to create an email forwarder on cPanel
How to create an email forwarder on cPanel.
Creating an email forwarder on cPanel is a simple way to automatically redirect emails from one address to another. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Log in to cPanel
First, log in to your cPanel account. You can usually access it by going to yourdomain.com/cpanel
and entering your credentials.
Step 2: Navigate to “Forwarders”
In the cPanel dashboard, scroll down to the Email section and click on the Forwarders icon.
Step 3: Add a New Forwarder
On the “Forwarders” page, you’ll see a list of any existing forwarders. To create a new one, click the Add Forwarder button.
Step 4: Configure the Forwarder
You’ll now be on a page to set up the forwarding rule. Here’s what you need to fill in:
- Address to Forward: In the first field, enter the email address you want to forward from (e.g.,
sales
). The full address will besales@yourdomain.com
. - Domain: Select the domain associated with the email address from the dropdown menu.
- Destination: In the Forward to Email Address field, enter the full email address where you want the emails to be sent to (e.g.,
yourname@gmail.com
).
You can also use the Advanced Options to forward emails to a system account, pipe them to a program, or discard them with an error message. However, for most uses, simply forwarding to another email address is all you’ll need.
Step 5: Save the Forwarder
After entering the details, click the Add Forwarder button. cPanel will then create the new forwarding rule. Any emails sent to the first address will now automatically be redirected to the second one. You can verify this by sending a test email to the forwarded address.
