How to Increase Upload Size for MySQL Database via WHM

To increase the maximum upload size for a MySQL database via WHM, you need to adjust PHP’s configuration settings, as phpMyAdmin (the common tool for database management) is a PHP application. This is a server-wide change that will affect all cPanel accounts.

Step 1: Log in to WHM

Access your WebHost Manager (WHM) as the root user.

Step 2: Navigate to Tweak Settings

In the search bar on the left, type “tweak settings” and click on the Tweak Settings option under the “Server Configuration” section.

Step 3: Modify PHP Upload Limits

In the Tweak Settings interface, click on the PHP tab. You’ll need to modify two critical values:

  • cPanel PHP max upload size: This setting controls the maximum size of a single file that can be uploaded. Change this to your desired value (e.g., 200M).
  • cPanel PHP max POST size: This setting defines the maximum size of all POST data in an HTTP request, which must be equal to or greater than the max upload size. Set this to the same value or slightly higher than your upload size.

Keep in mind that values higher than 2047MB are not permitted.

Step 4: Save the Changes

After setting the new values, click the Save button at the bottom of the page. WHM will process the changes, and they will take effect almost immediately.

After completing these steps, the new maximum upload size for your database will be reflected in phpMyAdmin’s import screen. If you have an especially large database, you might also consider increasing the max_execution_time to prevent the upload process from timing out.
