How to Unsuspend Accounts that are Bandwidth Exceeders via WHM

How to Unsuspend Accounts with Bandwidth Overage in WHM

When a cPanel account exceeds its allocated bandwidth, WHM automatically suspends the account to prevent further overages. As an administrator, you may need to unsuspend these accounts, either temporarily or after resetting their limits. The simplest way to do this is with WHM’s Unsuspend Bandwidth Exceeders tool.

The Purpose of the Tool

The Unsuspend Bandwidth Exceeders tool is designed for administrators to quickly and simultaneously reactivate all accounts that have been suspended due to excessive bandwidth usage. This is particularly useful for managing many accounts at once, as it saves you from having to manually unsuspend each one individually.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to WHM: Access your WebHost Manager interface using your root credentials.
  2. Navigate to Account Functions: In the left-hand navigation menu or the search bar, type “Account Functions” and select it.
  3. Find the Unsuspend Tool: Within the Account Functions section, click on the Unsuspend Bandwidth Exceeders option.
  4. Confirm the Action: A new page will load, displaying a message that confirms the purpose of the tool. It will state that clicking “Proceed” will unsuspend any account that is currently getting a “bandwidth exceeded” message.
  5. Click “Proceed”: Click the Proceed button to execute the action. WHM will process the request and unsuspend all the affected accounts.

Important Considerations

It’s crucial to understand that using this tool provides a temporary solution. The accounts will only remain unsuspended until the next time WHM performs its daily bandwidth check. If the accounts still exceed their bandwidth limits at that time, they will be automatically suspended again.

To provide a long-term solution and prevent future suspensions, you must either:

  • Increase the account’s bandwidth limit: This can be done in WHM under Account Functions > Limit Bandwidth Usage.
  • Upgrade the account’s hosting package: If the user consistently needs more resources, assigning a higher-tier package with a larger bandwidth limit is a permanent solution.
